Alex Shifrin was born in Belarus but grew up in Canada. He studied International Relations with a view to perhaps working as a diplomat. However, even before graduating he felt more interested in the private sector.
He worked part-time starting from high school right through university for a meat company. There he worked his way up from the shop floor to a financial analyst and then on to brand manager.
He was then invited to work for trading company with an office in Moscow in 1997, and in 1998 he came to Moscow to set up the diary division of their trading business. In 1999 he moved to a software company in a marketing role prior to starting a creative design agency, which 10 years later was bought out by Saatchi & Saatchi, for whom Alex now works here in Moscow.
He is a keen musician, married and a recent first-time father.
